Big guys with small dogs debunking stereotypes

Big guys with small dogs debunking stereotypes

Prissy, pampered, high maintenance and spoiled...these are some of the words people use to describe small dogs or their owners in a recent Mighty Dog survey. According to the survey, two-thirds of Americans describe small dogs as pampered (68%) and more than half say their owners are spoiled and high maintenance.

But  A.J. Hawk, football champ, linebacker and proud owner of a four-pound Chihuahua named Todd, says that's not true and ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! A.J. wants to help spread the word that small dogs make the perfect companion for anyone, regardless of sex, age, stature or lifestyle.

He's not the only one sporting a small pooch.  Gerald Butler, the sexiest Scotsman in show biz is rarely without pint-sized pug Lolita, and then there's Sylvester Stallone with his little dog.

Family hopes death of teen will help save lives

CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA - Ian McCue was just like any other 15-year-old. Loved his friends, his family and baseball. He was also an avid skateboarder and even designed a few "decks."

His love of the longboard proved to be fatal. He was killed last week riding his longboard down what kids call "Suicide Hill." His board came out from under him when a wheel struck a rock.

He was not wearing a helmet.

This is how his parents, Andy and Sheryl McCue of Citrus Heights want to begin the healing process; by educating kids and their parents about the importance of wearing a helmet.

"If any good is going to come out of this, is that it's so important that kids wear their helmets and that parents force it upon their kids to wear them," said Andy.

"In a split second that one decision or that created habit or bad habit of not wearing a helmet could definitely have made a difference," said Sheryl.

The coroner's website lists the deaths as undetermined, R/O homicide.  A representative of the coroner's office said that means investigators will treat the case as homicides to ensure every piece of evidence is gathered.

Fernandez's husband Joe Gonzalez said Villarruel was Laura's son.  He was in tears as he talked about his family Thursday afternoon.

"Loving wife," said Gonzalez.  "She meant well.  A wonderful kid ... big future for him."
