Contributor of the Month: Blogger Catherine Enfield

Contributor of the Month: Blogger Catherine Enfield

The contributor of the month piece will highlight a My Neighborhood blogger who has posted multiple pieces during the month and is doing something exciting. The contributor of the month is picked by News10 My Neighborhood staff.

I met up with Catherine Enfield at the Sugar and Spice Bakery at 12th and F. Bakery Owner Carissa went about her afternoon as she baked more treats and helped patrons pick out their perfect dessert.

Catherin and I stood in the corner and chatted about her blog Munchie Musings.

“The Munchie Musings is actually an appropriate title because if I had to think of a mission statement it would be thoughts, musings, about food and life,” Catherine explained.

Sunrise MarketPlace launches innovative online shopping experience

Sunrise MarketPlace launches innovative online shopping experience

Sunrise MarketPlace has partnered with Mallfinder to launch an entirely redesigned website promoting more than 400 merchants and services in the Citrus Heights, CA business improvement district (BID). The new site, www.shopSMP.com, establishes the online presence of Sunrise MarketPlace as a premier shopping destination for the Sacramento metro area.

A comprehensive gallery features pages for each merchant to provide extensive and up-to-date information for shopping, dining, entertainment and services. “Our vision was to connect our patrons visually and emotionally to the depth and breadth of services provided by the large number merchants in Sunrise MarketPlace”, said Kathilynn Carpenter, Executive Director. Both parties believed a standard, static website would be unable to capture the online experience they envisioned.

Doug Ose to Host Gibson Ranch Clean-Up Day

Former Congressman Doug Ose will host a volunteer work day at Gibson Ranch in Elverta, CA. The event is set to run the full day, beginning at 8:00 a.m. Volunteers are requested to bring tools for landscaping, fence and picnic table repair, and trail cleanup.

Over the past several years, Gibson Ranch has fallen into disrepair due to neglect and underfunding. The Gibson Ranch Clean-Up Day will provide an opportunity for private citizens to take action and reinvest in this community resource.

Ose will also sponsor a free barbecue at noon offering hot dogs and drinks to all volunteers. A photographer will be on hand to for photos of volunteers.

Ose was granted control of Gibson Ranch with a unanimous vote by the Board of Supervisors on Wednesday. He will lease the park for $1 a year for 10 years and be able to charge the public for a range of services planned for the park.
