Placer Theatre Ballet Auditions for The Nutcracker at this Saturday in Rocklin

Auditions for Placer Theatre Ballet's 14th production of The Nutcracker will take place on August 20 at the Conservatory of Dance Studios
4561 Pacific St, Rocklin. This is the final year that original artistic director, Pat Colgate, will direct The Nutcracker. Shea Wing will take over as artistic director in January 2012.

Dance students starting as young as age 4 are encouraged to audition to be a part of this classic holiday ballet. No dance experience necessary for the younger ages. Some dance experience required for certain parts which increases with age. For details on roles and specifics about experience, please visit www.placertheatreballet.org.

Cast members will do seven performances on Saturdays and Sundays, Nov. 26-Dec. 4.

First Annual Mikuni Japanese Street Festival

 

ROSEVILLE, CA –Mikuni Restaurant Group will host the 1st Annual Mikuni Japanese Street Festival on Thursday, June 16, 2011 from 5pm-8pm at the Fountains in Roseville.

“We wanted to do something different in the community to generate awareness of our newest location, Mikuni Kaizen,” said Jeanne Mabry, Vice President of Marketing. “The atmosphere of The Fountains is perfect for an event for all ages to include an evening of Japanese themed entertainment and activities to kick off the summer.”

The Mikuni Japanese Street Festival will include performances by Sacramento Taiko Dan, Kovar’s Satori Academy of Martial Arts and Sacramento Kendo Club. In addition, there will be live music, dance performances and various children’s activities, including origami, tattoos, fan coloring.

Lynyrd Skynyrd to Conclude Summer Concert Series at Thunder Valley Casino Resort

Thunder Valley Casino Resort announced today that southern rock legend Lynyrd Skynyrd will conclude its second annual summer concert series on September 22 in its 3,500-seat outdoor amphitheater. Tickets for the show will go on sale April 28 and are expected to sell out quickly.

Other concerts for the amphitheater announced today include Joan Jett & The Blackhearts on June 18, Super 70’s Soul Jam on July 7, Train on July 24, Gabriel Iglesias on August 20, Daryl Hall & John Oates on September 11, “The Undisputed King of the Accordion” Ramon Ayala on September 17. There will also be a Chinese concert on June 25 and a Vietnamese concert on July 16.

Tickets are on sale now for Ramon Ayala, Daryl Hall & John Oates and Gabriel Iglesias.

Center High School Drama Department presents "Sinbad the Sailor: A Rockin Lip-Sync Musical"

Center High School Drama Department presents an original adaptation of one of the most classic stories of all time, "Sinbad the Sailor: A Rockin Lip-Sync Musical."   Taken from the Arabian Nights stories, this production follows the heroic sailor and his crew as they set out for adventure and excitement on a strange and mysterious island.  But this isn't your average adventure tale, this very comic re-telling is practically like watching a cartoon come to life on stage.  Filled with colorful costumes, dazzling scenery and special effects, "Sinbad the Sailor" also offers big production numbers, as the cast lip-syncs to music of the 50's, 60's and 70's.   It's high energy, fast paced entertainment that all ages will enjoy!
