Kaiser Permanente hospitals in Sacramento and Roseville earn prestigious cancer care accreditation

The Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons has granted Three-Year Accreditation with commendation to the cancer programs at the Kaiser Permanente hospitals in Sacramento and Roseville.

The medical centers have been designated as Comprehensive Community Cancer Programs by The Commission on Cancer (CoC).

To earn voluntary (CoC) accreditation, a cancer program must meet or exceed 34 CoC quality care standards, be evaluated every three years through a survey process, and maintain levels of excellence in the delivery of comprehensive patient-centered care. Three-Year Accreditation with commendation is only awarded to a facility that exceeds standard requirements at the time of its triennial survey.

Loomis Basin Equine Medical Center Hosts Annual Dental Clinic for Horses

PENRYN, Calif.  – The premier equine medical center in Placer County and surrounding communities is preparing to host one of its largest medical events of the year as it expects to be the dentist for more than 1,500 horses this December. Loomis Basin Equine Medical Center is bringing back one of its most popular patient service deals by offering half price dental service to horses.

Last year Loomis Basin Equine Medical Center welcomed 1,488 horses in December, examining and balancing their mouths to increase their comfort level and ability to chew their food.. Just like humans have their teeth filed down, cleaned or get fillings, horses need help keeping their mouths healthy too. A horses teeth keep growing throughout their lives, so by floating/filing down the sharp points and waves they develop over the course of their lives, Loomis Basin Equine Medical Center is able to keep the horses teeth balanced and not sharp, which can be painful for them.

The short answer: No, there are no bootcamps scheduled for Thanksgiving Day.

The long answer: No, there are no bootcamps scheduled for Thanksgiving Day BUT you can, and should, still get a workout in!!

This Thanksgiving, treat yourself to the Tough Turkey Express Workout! It will only take a few minutes, and its a great way to start off your holiday weekend.

Our month of Thanks Giving continues!

Last week, we told the world (ok, Facebook) what we were thankful for.  This week's challenge is about giving thanks to someone who may or may not still be in your life who helped you. You may have never told them, but now is your opportunity.

Our Main Mama Lorri Ann says:  "Mine was Miss Machado, my 8th grade teacher.  She believed in me, and encouraged me as my English teacher to write and express myself. Having a chaotic and painful home life, I looked forward to her words of encouragement to me. She never knew how big an influence she was on my life."

Its called the Express Workout, and you can do it wherever you are, whenever you want!  As we head into one of the busiest time of the year, it is great to have fast and easy tool to help you keep up your healthy lifestyle.

For a quick workout at home, on vacation, or even in the office, try this circuit (repetitions in parenthesis are for beginner, intermediate and advanced, respectively:

Pushups - box-style, on your knees or on your toes (20, 25, 30)

Dips (20,25,30)
